Who We Are
"Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time"
- Thomas Merton
At The BusyBeeZ Crafts & Ceramics, we're more than your average pay-to-paint ceramics shop; We're a community that welcomes you with open arms, a listening ear; we are here to encourage and support your artistic expression in your journey.
Launching in November, 2018 after a collaborative transition from A Creative Corner, Busy BeeZ is a community of artists, students and people from all walks of life working side-by-side in a friendly environment that encourages and inspires artistic growth. We believe everyone has an artist inside them, looking to express her/himself and we want to help you find your artistic voice. We will offer a full-service (competition process) ceramics studio, drop-in and craft options, crafting classes in a multitude of mediums, commercial orders and community outreach.
Each and every one of our seasoned artists is dedicated to sharing their love and passion with you whether you choose to drop in for an hour to paint, create a one-of-a-kind piece that is competition worthy, or want to try out a new medium in one of our many step-by-step hands-on class offerings.
We cannot wait to get you crafting and welcome you to our Creative Community.
How We Got Here
Our story begins with Ms. Zandra, known affectionately around the shop as 'Z', and her passion for ceramics. In the year 2000, she opened the doors to A Creative Corner, an unassuming, no frills ceramics studio with a big heart. A Creative Corner allowed an outlet to express her incredible abilities and share them with all those who walked through the door. Not only did she offer a studio and the support in cultivating the artistic abilities in others, she created a home away from home where people from all walks of life gathered to share in friendship and laughter; celebrating each others joys and supporting each other in their personal challenges.
For us, it all began with an igloo. In 2015, Christie Smith was invited to experience an afternoon at A Creative Corner with a friend. After browsing the shelves, she decided to paint a little igloo. That's all it took; she was hooked! The ability and the support to create something beautiful and be surrounded by the love of a welcoming community had her coming back every week. When Ms. Zandra expressed interest in retiring, Christie Smith and ReAnne Funk, students and dear friends of Z, put their heads together to find a way to keep this community alive and welcome more new friends into it.
In 2018, through a collaborative transition from A Creative Corner, BusyBeeZ Crafts & Ceramics was formed. We take Ms. Z's vision to heart and continue to offer the beautiful community atmosphere she built; even reminding ourselves of her legacy with the 'Z' in our Busy BeeZ name. Our studio's focus is on ceramics and art, for art brings beauty, expression and joy to a world that so desperately needs more of it, but we make sure to sprinkle each hour spent here with a heaping serving of love.
Come join us today, we've got a seat open and a smile ready for you.
